Peter Daniel Ring, a 31-year-old resident of Bell, Florida, has pleaded guilty in federal court to sending multiple interstate threats to kill or injure individuals. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
“My office takes seriously any threat of violence, and we have zero-tolerance for criminal threats directed toward others because of their religious or political affiliation,” said U.S. Attorney Heekin.
According to court records, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) began its inquiry in June 2025 after receiving a complaint from the Washington Post about a death threat made against one of its reporters. The FBI identified Ring as the individual responsible for this threat. Although Ring told investigators he would not issue further threats, authorities received another tip two months later indicating that he had resumed posting violent threats online targeting Muslims, media members, and well-known politicians. Between May and September 2025, Ring threatened at least fourteen victims with death or bodily harm.
Ring is scheduled to be sentenced on April 28, 2026, at the United States Courthouse in Gainesville before Chief United States District Judge Allen C. Winsor. He faces up to ten years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Christie S. Utt.
This case falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and combating violent crime as well as drug and human trafficking through coordinated efforts across various agencies within the Department of Justice.
