Kashone Demetrious Bing, a 21-year-old resident of Bronson, Florida, has been sentenced to 71 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. The sentencing was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
U.S. Attorney Heekin stated: “Our brave state and federal law enforcement partners work hard every day to keep our communities safe. Thanks to this successful prosecution, we are able to keep another dangerous, violent felon off our streets and take another step toward fulfilling the promise made by President Donald J. Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi to Take Back America from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
According to court records, Bing was found with a loaded firearm on his lap when authorities executed an arrest warrant at his home. Due to previous felony convictions—including aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm—Bing is legally barred from owning or possessing firearms.
The investigation involved collaboration between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, and the Levy County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Adam Hapner is prosecuting the case.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative that utilizes Department of Justice resources to address illegal immigration, dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
