Davonta McCrorey, a 25-year-old inmate from Baltimore, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for assaulting correctional officers. The sentence will be served consecutively to the eight-year term McCrorey is already serving for a separate offense. United States District Judge Thomas P. Barber issued the sentence after McCrorey pleaded guilty on April 15, 2025.
Court records indicate that in March 2024, while incarcerated at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex in Sumter County, McCrorey charged out of his cell and struck two federal correctional officers in the face several times, resulting in injuries. He then resisted other officers who tried to restrain him by verbally threatening them with violence and biting one officer on the hand.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Assistant United States Attorney Hannah Nowalk Watson prosecuted the case.
