Federal authorities have unsealed an indictment charging five individuals with conspiracy to traffic firearms, trafficking in firearms, and dealing firearms without a license. The accused are Tyler Corbin, 25, of Tampa; Edward Noel, 26, of Canada; Alfredo Santana, 32, of Miami; Omar Singateth, 24, of Canada; and Arif Jhuman, 39, of Canada. Additionally, Corbin faces a charge for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. The indictment was made public after the recent arrests of Corbin and Santana.
Prosecutors allege that the group trafficked more than 100 firearms from Florida to Canada during 2023 and 2024. Authorities state that 29 of these weapons were later found at Canadian crime scenes involving homicides. In one instance cited by officials, a firearm purchased by Corbin was recovered at a homicide scene just over a month after its purchase. None of the defendants held licenses to deal firearms.
The investigation was conducted jointly by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Homeland Security Investigations’ Miami Field Office. Assistant United States Attorney Samantha Newman will prosecute the case.
According to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe: “This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN).”
