Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against Starbucks, alleging that the company’s use of race-based quotas in hiring and advancement violates Florida’s Civil Rights Act. The legal action was announced from Tallahassee.

“Today, Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a lawsuit against Starbucks for implementing and enforcing race-based quotas for hiring and advancement, in violation of Florida’s Civil Rights Act,” according to the statement from the Attorney General’s office.

The complaint was filed in the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida. The Attorney General’s office is encouraging current or former Starbucks employees who believe they have experienced discrimination to contact their office.
