Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has issued criminal subpoenas to Roblox, an online gaming platform, as part of an investigation into whether the company’s practices may be enabling predators to target children.

“Platforms like Roblox have become breeding grounds for predators to gain access to our kids,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “We will stop at nothing in the fight to protect Florida’s children, and companies that expose them to harm will be held accountable.”

The Attorney General’s office cited multiple investigations showing that sexual predators have used Roblox to contact, communicate with, and groom minors. The allegations include insufficient age verification processes and failures in content moderation, which have reportedly allowed sexually explicit material to bypass filters and circulate on the platform. There are also reports that some predators have used Roblox’s in-game currency, Robux, to bribe minors into sending sexually explicit images.

Some victims claim that Roblox has not taken adequate steps to implement safety measures or provide warnings to parents about potential risks, despite public assurances regarding the platform’s safety for young users.

Additional reports suggest that Roblox has failed to report incidents of child victimization to authorities as required.
