Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against several online pornography distributors, alleging they have failed to comply with Florida’s age verification law. The law, enacted last year as HB 3, requires commercial websites that provide sexually explicit content considered harmful to minors to verify that users are at least 18 years old before granting access.
The legal action targets both foreign and domestic entities, including Webgroup Czech Republic (operator of XVideos.com), NKL Associates (XNXX.com), Sonesta Technologies and related companies (BangBros.com), GGW Group and GTFlix TV (GirlsGoneWild.com), and the advertiser Traffic F (TrafficFactory.com). According to the Attorney General’s office, these sites are free to access and receive significant web traffic globally and within Florida.
“Multiple porn companies are flagrantly breaking Florida’s age verification law by exposing children to harmful, explicit content. As a father of young children, and as Attorney General, this is completely unacceptable,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “We are taking legal action against these online pornographers who are willfully preying on the innocence of children for their financial gain.”
Officials allege that despite being aware of the new requirements since HB 3 took effect on January 1, 2025, the companies have not implemented any changes. In April, Uthmeier sent letters to two companies urging compliance with state law or face litigation; no modifications were made in response.
The lawsuit seeks court orders compelling these firms to adhere to HB 3 and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. State authorities argue that failure to require age verification constitutes an unfair business practice that helps build large user bases in Florida—including among minors—while disregarding statutory obligations.
