Florida attorney general sues medical groups over gender-affirming care guidance

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against three major medical organizations, alleging that they have misled the public about the safety of gender-affirming care for minors. The organizations named in the suit are the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy for Pediatrics.

According to a statement from Uthmeier’s office, “Today, Attorney General James Uthmeier announced a lawsuit against the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy for Pediatrics for allegedly misleading public opinion on the safety of ‘gender-affirming care’ for minors.”

The complaint was filed in Florida’s 19th judicial circuit. Additional details about the specific allegations or evidence cited in the complaint were not included in the announcement.
