Donovan Arthur Sauleda, 39, from Crawfordville, Florida, was convicted by a federal jury for possession and receipt of child pornography and production and distribution of obscene material portraying a child. The announcement was made by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.
U.S. Attorney Heekin emphasized the importance of protecting children from sexual exploitation and abuse: “Protecting our children from sexual exploitation and abuse is of paramount importance, and I am proud of the great work by my office to bring this sex offender to justice. My office will aggressively pursue these types of cases to ensure those who victimize our most vulnerable populations are prosecuted and punished to the fullest extent of the law.”
The investigation into Sauleda began in November 2021 when he failed to register his internet accounts as required by law. This led to further inquiries by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office. In March 2022, a search warrant resulted in the discovery of child pornography and child-like sex dolls at Sauleda’s residence. Evidence showed that he produced videos with these dolls for sale and distribution.
Sauleda’s sentencing is set for September 8, 2025, at the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before United States District Judge Robert L. Hinkle. Post-sentencing, he will be required to continue registering as a sex offender with a mandatory minimum sentence ranging from five years up to twenty years’ imprisonment.
This conviction stemmed from investigations conducted by the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Meredith L. Steer prosecuted the case.
The case was part of Project Safe Childhood—a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse—coordinated by U.S. Attorney’s Offices alongside state and local resources to apprehend offenders exploiting children via the Internet.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida operates under one of 94 offices serving as principal litigators directed by the Attorney General.
