In a gripping legal battle, a Florida resident has taken on a major supermarket chain over an unexpected lunchtime mishap. Kevin Ranson filed a complaint against Publix Super Markets, Inc. in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on October 6, 2025. The lawsuit arises from an incident that occurred at the Bardmoor Promenade Publix in Seminole, where Ranson claims he suffered injuries due to negligence on the part of the grocery giant.

The case revolves around an unfortunate event on July 23, 2025, when Kevin Ranson purchased chicken tenders from the grab-and-go cooler at Publix. After taking them back to his office for lunch, he broke a tooth biting into what turned out to be frozen chicken tenders. According to the complaint, this was not just an isolated accident but a result of Publix’s failure to ensure food safety standards were met. Ranson alleges that Publix negligently allowed customers access to improperly prepared food and failed to maintain or observe safe temperatures for their products.

Ranson’s lawsuit accuses Publix of several legal violations including negligence, strict liability for selling defective products, and breach of implied warranty of merchantability. He argues that Publix had a duty to ensure all food sold was safe for consumption and that their failure resulted in significant personal injury. “The unsafe or dangerous food condition created unnecessary and unreasonable hazards,” states the complaint, highlighting how such negligence could affect other unsuspecting customers as well.

Kevin Ranson is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 exclusive of interest and costs. He claims his injuries are permanent and continuing in nature and have caused him great mental and physical pain and suffering. Additionally, he seeks compensation for medical expenses incurred due to his injuries as well as non-medical expenses related to his diminished quality of life following the incident.

Representing Kevin Ranson is George Alan Tripp Jr., Esq., along with Byron L. Kennedy III from Tripp Law Firm P.A., based in Seminole, Florida. The Case Number is: 25-005581-CI.
