A federal jury in Orlando has convicted Dariel Javier Quiles-Davila, a former officer with the Kissimmee Police Department, of receiving child sexual abuse material. The verdict was announced by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Quiles-Davila, 27, faces a minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison. Sentencing is set for December 16, 2025.

According to evidence presented during the trial, Quiles-Davila met a child victim while on duty as a police officer in October 2023. After obtaining the child’s contact information, he communicated with the victim using his personal cellphone and social media accounts. Prosecutors said he sent money to the child and solicited sexually explicit photographs and videos.

The investigation involved the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kissimmee Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Michael Sartoian is prosecuting the case.

“This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
