The Fourth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission announced on Mar. 23 that a vacancy has opened on the Clay County Court following the appointment of Judge Kristina Mobley to the Circuit Court. Governor Ron DeSantis has tasked the commission with providing him with highly qualified nominees for this position.

This vacancy is significant as it initiates a process to fill an important judicial role in Clay County, ensuring continued service and upholding of justice in the local court system.

Applications for the position must be submitted in both unredacted and redacted forms before 5 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, via email to Chanda Rogers. Application forms are available for download from the Governor’s website. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the Historic Clay County Courthouse.

Applicants are required to meet all qualifications outlined in Article V, Section 8 of the Florida Constitution. They must also provide a digital color photo and ensure that all questions in the application are fully answered. Contact information for judges, co-counsel, opposing counsel, and references is necessary to facilitate background investigations by commission members. Personal information not subject to public disclosure should be redacted as permitted by Section 119.071 of Florida Statutes.

All proceedings related to this nominating process will be open to the public except during deliberations; therefore applicants should not expect confidentiality regarding their applications. If nominated, all application materials will be forwarded to The Executive Office of the Governor.

For questions about applying or about any part of this process, applicants may contact Chanda L. Rogers directly but should not initiate contact with other commissioners unless it pertains specifically to application procedures.
