Kimani Brennen Fletcher, a 26-year-old resident of Covington, Georgia, has been sentenced to 27 months in federal prison for his involvement in a wire fraud conspiracy. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge John L. Badalamenti. In addition to the prison term, Fletcher was ordered to pay $40,800 in restitution and forfeiture.
According to court documents, Fletcher’s co-conspirators made phone calls to victims between April 15 and April 22, 2024. During these calls, they falsely claimed to be members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and told victims that they had outstanding warrants requiring payment to avoid arrest. Fletcher then posed as a bail bondsman and collected money from victims in the Middle District of Florida. After receiving the funds, he provided them to his co-conspirators. The total amount obtained through this scheme was approximately $40,800.
Fletcher pleaded guilty in December 2025. U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announced the sentencing.
The United States Secret Service and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation into this case. Assistant United States Attorney Ilyssa M. Spergel prosecuted the case.
