In a gripping legal battle unfolding in Pinellas County, Florida, a homeowner has taken her grievances to court against a flooring company she accuses of negligence. The complaint was filed by Rene Hale on November 19, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the 6th Judicial Circuit. The defendant named in the case is Performance Floors & Coating, LLC.

The lawsuit centers around an incident that occurred after Hale contracted Performance Floors & Coating to install epoxy coating on her driveway in December 2023. According to the complaint, following the installation, several individuals slipped and fell due to the slippery nature of the coating. Despite contacting the company for remediation, Hale herself suffered a severe fall on March 5, 2025, just one day after an additional coating was applied by the defendant. She claims this fall resulted in significant injuries due to the slick surface that lacked adequate grip.

Hale’s legal team argues that Performance Floors & Coating failed in their duty to properly install and inspect the epoxy coating and neglected to warn her about its potential hazards. The complaint alleges that the company had both actual and constructive knowledge of the dangerous condition created by their product but did not take appropriate action to mitigate these risks. “Negligently creating a slip hazard” and “failing to apply proper coarseness” are among several accusations listed against them.

Seeking justice for her ordeal, Hale demands compensation exceeding $50,000 for damages including pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings, and more. Her lawsuit calls for a jury trial to determine fair restitution under Florida law.

Representing Rene Hale is attorney Blake R. Carl from Morgan & Morgan P.A., overseeing this case under Case Number: 25-006553-CI.
