A St. Petersburg resident has filed a lawsuit alleging negligence after a hotel chair collapsed, causing serious injury. Stanley Gaskins filed the complaint in the Circuit Court for Pinellas County, Florida, on October 21, 2025, against Gulfcoast Marina Limited Partnership, Inter-Continental Hotels Corporation, and Kyle Gorman.
According to the complaint, Stanley Gaskins was staying at the Holiday Inn & Suites Clearwater Beach S-Harbourside on July 21, 2024. While sitting in his hotel room at approximately 10:45 a.m., the bottom of one of the chairs provided in the room gave way unexpectedly, causing him to fall and sustain injuries. The plaintiff alleges that this incident resulted from negligence on the part of Gulfcoast Marina Limited Partnership and Inter-Continental Hotels Corporation, who owned and operated the hotel property located at 401 2nd St., Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
Gaskins claims that both corporate defendants failed to exercise reasonable care in maintaining safe premises by not properly inspecting or maintaining the furniture provided to guests. He argues that they had a duty to warn invitees of any dangerous conditions they knew or should have known about through reasonable care. “The condition of having a defective chair constituted a dangerous condition on the premises,” asserts Gaskins in his filing.
Additionally, Kyle Gorman is named as a defendant due to his role as General Manager of Holiday Inn & Suites Clearwater Beach S-Harbourside. The complaint accuses him of failing to uphold similar duties regarding guest safety and maintenance oversight within his managerial responsibilities.
Gaskins seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for physical and mental pain suffered as well as loss of earnings and future earning capacity due to permanent injuries sustained from this incident. Furthermore, he anticipates ongoing medical expenses related to treating these injuries.
Represented by attorneys Tony Griffith, Ryan Bresler, and Justin Peterson from Tanney, Griffith & Bresler P.A., Gaskins demands judgment against all defendants along with prejudgment interest on liquidated damages and court costs. He also requests a jury trial for all issues presented in this case.
The Case Number is 25-0059 12-CI.
