A federal jury has found Elizabeth Danielle Rowe, also known as Simon Roe, guilty of transmitting a threat to injure across state lines, according to an announcement on Mar. 26 by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Rowe, a 25-year-old resident of Tampa, faces up to five years in federal prison with sentencing scheduled for June 24.
The case highlights the legal consequences individuals may face for making threats over social media platforms. Authorities say that threats sent via digital communication can lead to serious criminal charges and significant penalties under federal law.
Evidence presented at trial showed that on January 24, 2025, Rowe sent a threatening message through Instagram to a New York victim identified as A.A., stating: “I am coming to kill you. I will kill your pets first while you watch. Die c*nt.” The victim did not recognize the sender’s account and immediately notified her family and sought help from security personnel after receiving the message.
Investigators revealed that around the same time as this incident, Rowe sent several other threatening messages to additional Instagram users. In subsequent communications, Rowe admitted having been banned from the platform “for dming [Zionists] telling them to kill themselves.” The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force conducted the investigation into these actions.
Assistant United States Attorney Risha Asokan is prosecuting the case. Sentencing proceedings are set for June later this year.
