Tajmir Wyles, a 31-year-old man from New Jersey, has pleaded guilty to robbing a postal letter carrier and to receiving, possessing, or concealing stolen property belonging to the United States. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Wyles could face up to 20 years in federal prison.

Court documents state that on May 15, 2023, Wyles robbed a postal worker of his master keys while the worker was delivering mail at a shopping center. There was a physical struggle over the keys before Wyles escaped with them. In July 2023, authorities arrested Wyles in Dallas, Texas. At the time of his arrest, he had a binder containing checks stolen from the Middle District of Florida and also had the master keys taken during the robbery.

The investigation involved the United States Postal Inspection Service offices in Tampa, Florida and Fort Worth, Texas, as well as the Tampa Police Department and Dallas Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Ilyssa M. Spergel is prosecuting the case.
