A Palm Harbor man has been sentenced to 17 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing and receiving child sexual abuse material. U.S. District Judge John L. Badalamenti handed down the sentence to Alexander William Czech, 34, who will also serve 20 years of supervised release following his prison term. In addition, Czech must pay $133,000 in restitution and register as a sex offender.
Czech admitted guilt on August 22, 2025, for two counts of producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and one count of receiving CSAM.
According to court records, FBI agents executed a federal search warrant at Czech’s home and discovered thousands of images and videos depicting child sexual abuse on his computer and an external hard drive. Investigators also found chats on Czech’s cellphone with a 16-year-old girl he knew personally. The messages revealed that Czech instructed the minor to take sexually explicit photographs of herself and send them to him using a mobile app. Authorities determined that Czech had engaged in sexual activity with the minor after picking her up from school on several occasions.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Largo Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Ross Roberts prosecuted the case.
“This is another case brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse,” according to information provided about Project Safe Childhood. “Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.” More information about Project Safe Childhood can be found at www.justice.gov/psc.
