A shocking incident at a residential complex has led to a lawsuit filed by concerned parents. Camilla De Souza and Farley Paulo Guimaraes, acting as the natural guardians of their minor son LDG, have initiated legal proceedings against 22573 SW 66 Ave FL LLC, operating as The Luxe at Boca. This complaint was filed in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida on October 16, 2025.

The case stems from an incident that occurred on November 20, 2023, when De Souza and Guimaraes’ son was injured while walking through a hallway at The Luxe at Boca. According to the plaintiffs, a glass plate that had been negligently left in the hallway fell on their son, causing significant injuries. The lawsuit accuses the defendant of failing to maintain safe premises and neglecting its duty to ensure that common areas were free from hazards. “Defendant had a non-delegable duty to use reasonable care to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition,” states the complaint.

The plaintiffs argue that the defendant’s negligence is evident in several ways: failing to properly maintain or repair the hallway, not securing or removing hazardous objects like the glass plate, and neglecting to warn residents about potential dangers. They assert that these failures resulted directly in their son’s injuries, which include physical harm, mental anguish, and financial losses due to medical expenses and lost wages.

In seeking justice for their son’s injuries, De Souza and Guimaraes are demanding damages exceeding $50,000 from The Luxe at Boca. They request compensation for medical expenses related to their son’s treatment and for his pain and suffering. Additionally, they seek punitive damages aimed at holding the defendant accountable for its alleged negligence.

Representing Camilla De Souza and Farley Paulo Guimaraes is attorney Michael J. Overbeck from Schuler Weisser Zoeller Overbeck & Baxter PA. The case is identified under Case Number 502025CA010702XXXAMB Div: AH.
