Attorney General James Uthmeier announced that Phuc Minh Tran, 38, of Lehigh Acres, was found guilty on 40 counts related to the possession of child sexual abuse materials. The conviction follows a week-long jury trial in Fort Myers.

Tran’s arrest occurred on August 15, 2024, after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) cyber squad detected downloads of known child sexual abuse material traced to his residence. FDLE officers executed a search warrant at Tran’s home, where he was taken into custody.

Uthmeier expressed appreciation for the efforts leading to the conviction. “This predator is facing decades behind bars, which is right where he belongs,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Deputy Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Julie Chaikin and Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Agnieszka Thomas, this monster is off the streets and away from our children.”

Tran was convicted on all charges of second-degree possession, control, or intentional viewing of child pornography. Sentencing is scheduled for December 22. He faces up to 600 years in prison.
