A slip-and-fall incident at a grocery store has escalated into a legal battle, as a Pinellas County resident seeks justice for injuries sustained on the premises. On November 7, 2025, John C. Bancroft filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in and for Pinellas County, Florida, against Aldi (Florida), LLC. The lawsuit accuses the company of negligence leading to significant personal injury.

According to the complaint, on November 17, 2024, Bancroft visited an Aldi store located at 3705 Tampa Rd., Suite 13, Oldsmar, Florida. During his visit as a business invitee and guest, he encountered what is described as a “Dangerous Condition” — vegetable oil on the floor in the self-checkout area. Bancroft alleges that while exercising due care, he slipped on this substance and suffered bodily injuries as a result.

The lawsuit details multiple allegations of negligence against Aldi (Florida), LLC. Bancroft claims that the defendant failed to maintain safe premises by not adequately inspecting or warning patrons about potential hazards like slippery floors. The complaint highlights specific omissions such as failing to have sufficient staff to inspect and maintain safety standards and neglecting to train employees properly regarding dangerous conditions. Furthermore, it accuses Aldi of not adhering to its own corporate policies related to such risks.

Bancroft’s legal team argues that these failures directly resulted in his fall and subsequent injuries. The plaintiff asserts that Aldi’s negligence led to pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, lost earnings capacity, and aggravation of pre-existing conditions. He contends that these damages are either permanent or ongoing.

In pursuit of justice and compensation for his ordeal, Bancroft seeks damages exceeding $50,000 from Aldi (Florida), LLC. He requests relief for both past and future losses associated with his injuries. Additionally, Bancroft demands a jury trial to resolve all triable issues related to this matter.

Representing John C. Bancroft in this case is LeavenLaw firm with attorneys Ian R. Leavengood, Philip M. Piazza, Jason Thomas, Michael J. Boyle, and Ashley Long spearheading the legal proceedings. The case was electronically filed under Case Number: 25-0063 10-CI with Ken Burke serving as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Pinellas County.
