Jantrice Bynum has filed a lawsuit against a prominent hotel chain, alleging negligence that resulted in severe injuries. The complaint was lodged by Bynum on August 19, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the 6th Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against Balram Associates Inc., doing business as Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

According to the complaint, Jantrice Bynum was a guest at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites located at 2171 54th Ave N, Saint Petersburg, Florida, on August 21, 2023. During her stay as a business invitee at the hotel owned and managed by Balram Associates Inc., she suffered serious bodily injuries after slipping and falling on water present on the stairs inside the premises. Bynum claims that this incident resulted in permanent injuries that have caused her ongoing pain and suffering, physical handicap, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of income both past and future, and diminished capacity for enjoying life.

The plaintiff accuses Balram Associates Inc. of breaching their legal duty to maintain safe conditions within their property and failing to warn guests of potential hazards. Specifically, Bynum alleges that the defendant negligently allowed an unreasonably dangerous condition—water on the staircase—to persist without proper inspection or maintenance. She argues that the hotel had actual or constructive knowledge of this hazard due to its duration or frequency but failed to address it adequately. The complaint further asserts that the hotel did not provide sufficient warnings about this danger through signage or other means.

Bynum is seeking judgment against Balram Associates Inc. for damages exceeding $50,000 along with associated costs. She demands a jury trial for all issues eligible for such proceedings under law. Her legal representation is provided by Alena Edwards from Fenstersheib Law Group P.A., based in Hallandale Beach, Florida.

The case is identified under Case Number: 25-004576-CI.
