In a compelling lawsuit filed in Pinellas County, Florida, a resident has accused her apartment complex of negligence leading to severe health issues. Queen Mims, the plaintiff, filed the complaint on October 29, 2025, against Goldelm at St Charles Row LLC, doing business as St Charles Row Apartments. The case revolves around allegations of dangerous living conditions due to mold infestation in her apartment.
Queen Mims claims that her health began deteriorating in the spring of 2022 when she started experiencing breathing difficulties. Concerned about potential mold presence in her residence at Apartment #26, located at 1175 Pinellas Point Drive South, St. Petersburg, she hired a mold testing company. In July 2022, it was confirmed that excessive levels of mold were present in her apartment. As a result of prolonged exposure to this hazardous condition, Mims asserts that she developed significant respiratory problems and experienced a decline in overall health.
The lawsuit accuses Goldelm at St Charles Row LLC of failing to uphold their duty to maintain safe living conditions for their tenants. According to the complaint, the defendant neglected to warn Mims about the dangerous condition and failed to properly inspect and maintain the property to prevent such hazards. “The aforementioned condition constituted a dangerous condition on the premises which was not open and obvious,” states the complaint. The plaintiff argues that these oversights amount to negligence on part of the apartment complex management.
Mims is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for physical and mental suffering caused by what she describes as permanent injuries resulting from mold exposure. She also claims loss of earnings and future earning capacity due to her inability to lead a normal life following these health complications. Additionally, Mims requests compensation for past and future medical expenses incurred due to this issue.
Representing Queen Mims are attorneys Tony Griffith, Ryan Bresler, and Justin Peterson from Tanney, Griffith & Bresler P.A., based in Clearwater, Florida. The case is being heard under Case Number: 25-006110-CI in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County.
