Melex Technologies Inc., a Florida-based corporation, has filed a lawsuit against two individuals, Daniel and Heather Baum, alleging serious misconduct involving the misappropriation of trade secrets and other proprietary information. The complaint was lodged in the Circuit Court of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 6, 2025. The lawsuit accuses the Baums of using their positions to gain unauthorized access to confidential company data for personal gain.

The case centers around allegations that Daniel and Heather Baum, who were once trusted associates of Melex Technologies Inc., exploited their professional relationships to acquire sensitive information. This information allegedly included customer lists, pricing details, and scientific formulas vital to Melex’s operations. According to the complaint, “Defendants utilized their position of personal and professional trust with Melex and its principals to obtain confidential and proprietary company information.” The plaintiff asserts that this breach has caused significant monetary and reputational damage to Melex. The defendants are accused of violating Florida’s Uniform Trade Secrets Act (FUTSA) and the Computer Abuse and Data Recovery Act (CADRA), among other statutes.

Melex Technologies is seeking several forms of relief from the court. They are requesting injunctive relief to prevent further misuse or dissemination of their trade secrets by the Baums. Additionally, they seek compensatory damages for losses incurred due to these alleged violations. The plaintiff also demands an accounting of any profits gained by the defendants through these actions, arguing that such gains were unjustly earned at Melex’s expense. Furthermore, they request punitive damages for what they describe as willful and malicious conduct by the defendants.

The legal proceedings have been initiated under Case Number 502025CA011616XXXAMB Div: AA in Palm Beach County’s General Jurisdiction Division. Representing Melex Technologies is attorney Kristin Drecktrah Paz from Pierson Ferdinand LLP based in Miami, Florida. The case underscores significant issues related to corporate security and fiduciary responsibility within business relationships.
