A lawsuit has been filed against a major grocery chain, alleging negligence that resulted in personal injury. Meghan Mazzola, acting as Power of Attorney for Leah Mazzola, lodged the complaint on November 21, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida. The defendant named in the case is Southeastern Grocers, LLC.

The complaint details an incident that occurred on December 6, 2023, when Leah Mazzola was an invitee at a Winn Dixie store located at 1050 58th Street North in St. Petersburg, Florida. The plaintiff alleges that Southeastern Grocers failed to maintain safe premises and neglected to warn of known dangers. Specifically, it is claimed that the company did not adequately manage or inspect the floor space where a slippery substance was left unattended. This alleged oversight led to Leah Mazzola slipping and sustaining injuries.

According to the filing, Southeastern Grocers had both actual and constructive knowledge of hazardous conditions on their property but failed to act accordingly. The complaint accuses them of several omissions including not exercising ordinary care to keep the premises safe and failing to supervise employees properly regarding floor maintenance. These failures are said to have directly caused Leah Mazzola’s injuries.

The plaintiff seeks damages exceeding $50,000 for various losses including bodily injury, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and medical expenses incurred due to the incident. They also demand a jury trial for all triable issues.

Representing Meghan Mazzola are attorneys Actin J. Chambers and Jeffrey K. Chambers from Chambers|Pilon P.A., based in St. Petersburg, Florida. The case has been assigned Case Number 25-006619-CI.
