A slip-and-fall incident at a local grocery store has escalated into a legal battle, with the plaintiff seeking justice for injuries sustained on the premises. Kimberly Epperson filed a complaint against Publix Supermarkets, Inc., doing business as Publix Supermarket at 4th Street Station, in the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Pinellas County, Florida, on February 24, 2026. The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of the defendant that led to serious injuries.

According to the court documents, Epperson was an invitee at the Publix Supermarket located at 3700 4th St N., St. Petersburg, Florida when she slipped and fell on a liquid substance on February 5, 2026. The fall resulted in bodily injuries and other significant impacts such as pain and suffering, mental anguish, disability, medical expenses, and loss of enjoyment of life. The complaint accuses Publix of failing to maintain a safe environment for its customers by allowing hazardous conditions to persist within its store.

The plaintiff’s allegations highlight several points of negligence against Publix. Epperson claims that Publix had either actual or constructive knowledge of the dangerous condition yet failed to take corrective action. Specific accusations include allowing the premises to remain hazardous, not warning customers about potential dangers, neglecting to provide non-skid surfaces or properly dry floors after mopping, and permitting foreign substances to linger on walkways. These failures allegedly breached Publix’s non-delegable duty to ensure customer safety.

Epperson is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from Publix for their alleged negligence. She argues that her injuries are permanent and will continue affecting her quality of life and earning capacity in the future. Her legal representation is demanding judgment for damages along with interest and costs associated with this case while requesting a jury trial for all triable issues.

Representing Kimberly Epperson is Justin W. Pimenta from Abrahamson & Uiterwyk Car Accident & Injury Lawyers based in Tampa, Florida. The case has been filed under Case Number: 26-001215-CI in front of Judge Ken Burke at the Pinellas County Circuit Court.
