A hotel guest’s trip to Clearwater Beach turned into a legal battle after she suffered severe injuries due to alleged negligence. On February 23, 2026, Leatrice Johnson filed a complaint in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, against MHH Clearwater 395 Holdings, LLC and Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company, LLC. The lawsuit claims that both defendants failed to maintain safe conditions at the AC Hotel Clearwater Beach, leading to Johnson’s injury.

The case revolves around an incident on June 17, 2024, when Johnson was staying as a guest at the AC Hotel Clearwater Beach. According to the complaint, both MHH Clearwater and Concord Hospitality were responsible for maintaining the hotel’s premises in a safe condition. However, Johnson alleges that they neglected this duty by failing to ensure that lighting fixtures in her hotel room were properly maintained. This negligence allegedly resulted in a hazardous condition that caused her to trip and fall, sustaining severe bodily injuries.

Johnson accuses both defendants of several acts of negligence. She claims they failed to maintain or adequately inspect the lighting fixtures in her room and did not warn her about their dangerous condition. The complaint states that these failures created an unreasonably dangerous environment for guests like Johnson. As a result of the fall, she suffered significant injuries including pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from each defendant for their alleged negligence. She demands compensation for medical expenses incurred due to hospitalization and treatment following her injuries. Additionally, Johnson seeks recovery for lost earnings and future losses related to her ability to earn money as well as any permanent or continuing damages resulting from the incident.

Representing Leatrice Johnson is attorney Tyler Swift from Dan Newlin Injury Attorneys based in Orlando, Florida. The case has been assigned Case Number 26-001191-CI with Judge Ken Burke presiding over proceedings at the Pinellas County Circuit Court.
