A recent court filing has put a spotlight on the alleged negligence of a local restaurant, bringing attention to safety standards in public establishments. George Spiridakos filed a complaint against Mama’s Greek Cuisine in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on November 14, 2025. The lawsuit accuses Mama’s Greek Cuisine of failing to maintain safe premises for its patrons.

According to the complaint, George Spiridakos was visiting Mama’s Greek Cuisine as an invitee on August 20, 2025. While exiting through the rear of the restaurant near the outdoor patio, Spiridakos tripped over a black rubber mat lining the steps and fell down a flight of stairs. This fall resulted in significant injuries to his neck, back, head, left shoulder, arm and hand, as well as his right knee and leg. The plaintiff claims that these injuries have led to medical expenses, mental anguish, physical handicap, loss of earnings and earning capacity, and a diminished enjoyment of life.

The lawsuit centers around allegations that Mama’s Greek Cuisine negligently maintained its premises by allowing unsafe conditions to persist. Specifically, it is claimed that there was an improper means of egress and regress due to hazardous pedestrian walkways. The complaint states that Mama’s Greek Cuisine had both actual or constructive knowledge of these dangerous conditions but failed to take corrective action. It also alleges that the restaurant did not inspect or maintain compliance with code requirements for pedestrian walkways and failed to warn patrons about potential hazards.

Spiridakos asserts that Mama’s Greek Cuisine breached its non-delegable duty to ensure a reasonably safe environment for visitors. The lawsuit details various points where negligence allegedly occurred: failure to remedy known dangers; lack of proper inspection; inadequate warning systems; maintaining dangerous walkway conditions; improper construction practices violating code requirements; and failure to adhere to approved design drawings.

In seeking justice from the court system, Spiridakos demands judgment against Mama’s Greek Cuisine for damages exceeding $50,000—exclusive of costs and interest—and requests a jury trial for all triable issues. He aims not only for compensation but also accountability from establishments regarding public safety standards.

Representing George Spiridakos is Andrew M. Bennett from Abrahamson & Uiterwyk Car Accident & Injury Lawyers based in Tampa, Florida. The Case Number is: 25-006452-CI.
