Sherry Rossicoe Randolph has filed a lawsuit against the School Board of Pinellas County, Florida, alleging negligence after sustaining permanent injuries from a fall at a school gymnasium. The complaint was filed on November 20, 2025, in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida. Randolph claims that her injuries were caused by defective and unsafe bleachers that the School Board failed to maintain properly.
According to the details outlined in the complaint, Randolph attended a school-sponsored sporting event on January 11, 2023, at a facility operated by the School Board located at 8401 131st Street North in Seminole, Florida. While seated on or near the bleachers during the event, she fell due to their broken and unstable condition. The lawsuit accuses the School Board of failing to uphold its duty to maintain safe premises for individuals lawfully present and alleges that this negligence led directly to her injuries.
The complaint further asserts that the School Board should have been aware of the hazardous condition of the bleachers through prior reports or routine maintenance checks but did not take adequate measures to repair or warn attendees about potential dangers. “Defendant knew or should have known of the condition of the broken bleachers,” states Randolph’s legal filing. She contends that an employee even mentioned post-incident that those particular bleachers had been previously identified as broken.
Randolph’s injuries are described as serious and permanent, leading to ongoing pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life. These damages have also resulted in significant medical expenses and loss of earnings capacity. The plaintiff is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from the defendant for these losses.
The legal action requests judgment against the School Board for an amount greater than $50,000 plus pre-judgment costs and post-judgment interest. Additionally, Randolph demands a jury trial for all issues eligible for such proceedings under her rights.
Representing Sherry Rossicoe Randolph are attorneys Edward J. Reyes and Orlando F. Amador from The Reyes Firm Corp., based in Tampa, Florida. The case has been assigned Case Number 25-006583-CI within this jurisdiction.
