In a gripping legal battle unfolding in Palm Beach County, Florida, a local resident has taken legal action against a well-known grocery chain, accusing them of negligence that resulted in significant personal injury. Lilia De La Cruz filed the complaint on November 14, 2025, against El Bodegon Grocery Inc., El Bodegon Grocery #4, Inc., and The Bodegon Franchise Group Inc. at the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit.
The case revolves around an incident that occurred on January 4, 2024, when De La Cruz was shopping as a business invitee at one of the defendant’s supermarket locations on Lake Worth Road. According to the complaint, cans fell from a shelf and struck her head due to improper stacking by store employees. The plaintiff alleges that this negligence resulted in severe injuries causing pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish, and other damages. “Defendant… had a duty to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition,” states the complaint. De La Cruz accuses the defendants of failing to provide a safe environment free from hazardous conditions and neglecting routine inspections and employee training.
De La Cruz is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for bodily injury and related losses such as medical expenses and loss of earnings. The lawsuit also demands judgment for damages and any other relief deemed appropriate by the court. Furthermore, she insists on a jury trial for all triable issues.
