In a compelling legal battle, a couple from Palm Beach County has taken on a well-known restaurant chain, seeking justice for an incident that left one of them severely injured. Mark and Jeanne Sheehan have filed a lawsuit against Darden Restaurants, Inc., operating as Yard House, in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 26, 2025.

The plaintiffs allege that on December 3, 2023, Mark Sheehan was visiting the Yard House restaurant located at Lake Victoria Gardens Avenue when he suffered a serious fall due to hazardous conditions. The complaint details how water leaking from the roof and grease on the floor near the kitchen area led to his accident. The Sheehans accuse Darden Restaurants and its subsidiary Yard House Palm Beach Gardens LLC of negligence for failing to maintain safe premises and not warning patrons about potential dangers. “DARDEN had actual and/or constructive knowledge of ‘the’ existence of the dangerous condition,” claims the complaint, highlighting that these hazards were known or should have been known by the defendants.

Mark Sheehan’s injuries are described as severe and life-altering, encompassing permanent bodily harm, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and loss of income both past and future. The lawsuit accuses Darden Restaurants of failing to implement adequate safety measures or procedures to prevent such incidents. Additionally, it charges them with negligent hiring and supervision practices that contributed to the unsafe environment.

The plaintiffs are seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for each count in their multi-faceted lawsuit. They demand compensation for medical expenses incurred due to Mark’s injuries as well as for Jeanne Sheehan’s loss of consortium—her husband’s companionship and services—as a result of his incapacitation.

Representing the plaintiffs is attorney Dean T. Xenick from Xenick Lebedeker Pepin law firm based in West Palm Beach. The Case ID is: 502025CA012391 XXXAMB Div: AA.
