Kisean Paul Anderson, known as Sean Kingston, has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison after being convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge David S. Leibowitz. The case involved a scheme that defrauded luxury merchandise vendors of over $1 million in goods, such as a bulletproof Escalade, high-end watches, and a large LED television.
Anderson’s mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, was also implicated in the scheme and received a five-year federal prison sentence on July 23 for her involvement.
Evidence presented during the trial showed that between April 2023 and March 2024, Anderson contacted victims via social media to negotiate purchases of expensive items. He invited sellers to his homes in Broward County and used his celebrity status to build trust with them. According to the prosecution, Anderson offered to promote their products on social media or mentioned other celebrities as potential clients.
When it came time for payment, either Anderson or Turner provided fake wire transfer receipts as proof of payment. These receipts were obtained by Turner but no actual funds were transferred from legitimate accounts. Most victims did not receive any payment; some only recovered money after pursuing legal action or contacting law enforcement.
U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida announced the sentences along with Special Agent in Charge Rafael Barros of the U.S. Secret Service Miami Field Office and Sheriff Gregory Tony of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service Miami Field Office and the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Marc Anton and Trevor Jones prosecuted the case.
