A shopper’s routine visit to a grocery store turned into a legal battle after she allegedly slipped on loose grapes, sustaining significant injuries. Laurie A. Vezina filed a complaint against Shoppes on 34! LLLP, doing business as Aldi Inc., and an unknown manager referred to as Jane Doe in the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, on August 29, 2025.

According to the lawsuit, Laurie A. Vezina claims that while shopping at an Aldi store located at 2900 34th Street South in St. Petersburg, Florida, on September 22, 2024, she slipped on debris—specifically loose grapes—and suffered serious personal injuries. The plaintiff asserts that Aldi Inc., a Florida profit corporation operating under Shoppes on 34! LLLP, failed to maintain safe premises for its customers. Vezina alleges that the defendants breached their duty of care by not adequately maintaining the floors or warning her about potential hazards.

The complaint outlines several accusations against Aldi Inc., including negligence in maintaining the store’s floors and failing to inspect or warn patrons about dangerous conditions. It further accuses the company of not having sufficient staff or proper training for employees to manage such hazards effectively. Additionally, Vezina claims that Aldi did not enforce its policies designed to prevent slip-and-fall incidents and failed to act reasonably under the circumstances.

Laurie A. Vezina is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 from both Aldi Inc. and Jane Doe for her injuries and associated losses. These include pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, medical expenses, and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff argues that these damages are either permanent or ongoing and will continue affecting her future well-being.

Representing Laurie A. Vezina is attorney Bora S. Kayan from Morgan & Morgan Tampa P.A., based in Sarasota, Florida. The case has been assigned Case Number: 25-004833-CI in Pinellas County’s Circuit Court.
