A United Kingdom citizen has been sentenced to over 15 years in a U.S. federal prison after pleading guilty to enticing a minor for sexual activity.

Jack Edward Coles, 40, received a sentence of 188 months in federal prison and will be subject to 20 years of supervised release. The sentence was handed down by Chief U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga.

Court records state that in October 2024, Coles met a 14-year-old boy through a dating app. He arranged for an Uber to transport the minor from his home to Coles’s hotel, where sexual acts occurred. Authorities said Coles tried to set up further meetings with the victim in October and November 2024, as well as February 2025. In November 2024, he also persuaded the minor to send sexually explicit photographs.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Hayden P. O’Byrne and Acting Special Agent in Charge José R. Figueroa of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami.

HSI Miami led the investigation with support from the City of Miami Police Department and the State Attorney’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

Assistant United States Attorney Dwayne Williams prosecuted the case.

“This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
