A West Palm Beach resident has taken legal action against two property owners, accusing them of negligence after a slip-and-fall incident left her severely injured. Marilyn Lanham filed the complaint in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 6, 2025, naming Sean Hogan and Karen Chennell as defendants.
According to the lawsuit, Lanham was lawfully visiting the premises at 2066 Circle Pl Dr., Lantana, Florida, on December 14, 2024. During her visit, she slipped and fell on a wet driveway owned by Hogan and Chennell. The complaint alleges that both defendants were aware or should have been aware of the dangerous condition of their driveway but failed to take necessary precautions to prevent such accidents. Lanham’s legal team argues that the defendants neglected their duty of care by not maintaining a safe environment for invitees like Lanham.
The complaint outlines several specific accusations against Hogan and Chennell. It claims they failed to warn visitors about the hazardous condition of the driveway and did not conduct proper inspections or maintenance to ensure safety. Furthermore, it accuses them of neglecting to implement adequate safety procedures and failing to comply with applicable code requirements. “Defendants created or had knowledge of the dangerous condition,” states the complaint, emphasizing their alleged negligence in allowing such conditions to persist.
Lanham is seeking judgment against both defendants for damages exceeding $50,000 each. The lawsuit requests compensation for bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, lost earnings, and other related damages. Additionally, Lanham demands a trial by jury to resolve these claims.
Representing Marilyn Lanham is attorney Chase M. Nugent from Osborne & Francis PLCC based in West Palm Beach. The case has been assigned Case Number 502025CA011549XXXAMB Div: AG under Judge Michael A. Caruso’s jurisdiction.
